Terms of Service
Effective date: May 1, 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using voterhq.com (the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.
VoterHQ is operated by VoterHQ, Inc., a Delaware corporation ("VoterHQ," "we," "us," or "our"). These Terms apply to all visitors and users of the Service.
2. Description of the Service
VoterHQ is a nonpartisan civic reference platform that aggregates publicly available information about elections, candidates, elected officials, legislative activity, and voter resources in the United States. All content is sourced from official government records, public APIs, and verified civic datasets.
VoterHQ does not endorse any candidate, political party, ballot position, or electoral outcome. The Service is designed to present factual information in a structurally neutral format.
3. Permitted Use
You may use the Service for personal, non-commercial civic reference purposes. You may also use the Service in a professional capacity (journalism, research, education, campaign compliance) provided such use does not violate these Terms.
You agree not to:
- Scrape, crawl, or systematically download data from the Service without prior written permission
- Use the Service to build a competing product that reproduces our data in bulk
- Misrepresent VoterHQ data as your own original research or as an official government source
- Attempt to circumvent rate limits, access controls, or security measures
- Use the Service in any way that violates applicable law
4. Accuracy of Information
VoterHQ strives to present accurate, current, and cited civic information. However, we make no warranty that information on the Service is complete, error-free, or up to date at all times. Election data, candidate information, and legislative records change frequently. You should verify critical information — including voter registration deadlines, polling locations, and ballot eligibility — directly with your local election authority.
VoterHQ is a reference tool. It is not a substitute for official government guidance on voting or elections. Do not rely solely on VoterHQ to make decisions about your participation in an election.
5. Intellectual Property
The VoterHQ name, logo, design, and original content on the Service are the property of VoterHQ, Inc. and are protected by applicable intellectual property law.
Civic data sourced from government agencies and public APIs — including elected official records, FEC campaign finance data, and election schedules — is in the public domain or made available under open government data licenses. VoterHQ claims no proprietary rights over that underlying public data.
You may quote, cite, or link to VoterHQ content for informational, educational, or journalistic purposes provided you attribute VoterHQ as the source and link to the relevant page.
6. Third-Party Links and Data Sources
The Service links to and sources data from third-party government websites and APIs. We are not responsible for the content, availability, or accuracy of those external resources. Links to external sites do not constitute endorsement.
7. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. VOTERHQ DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF HARMFUL COMPONENTS.
8. Limitation of Liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, VOTERHQ AND ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE, INCLUDING ANY RELIANCE ON INFORMATION OBTAINED FROM THE SERVICE.
IN NO EVENT SHALL VOTERHQ'S TOTAL LIABILITY EXCEED ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($100).
9. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless VoterHQ and its affiliates from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third-party rights.
10. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to its conflict-of-law provisions. Any dispute arising under these Terms shall be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Delaware.
11. Changes to These Terms
We may revise these Terms at any time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. If changes are material, we will make reasonable efforts to notify users.
